Dimensions: 4' wide x 6' high x 1' deep
Location: Sanctuary, First Baptist Church of Justin, TX
Date: 2003
Construction: Stained glass mosaics. The glass was salvaged from the church's old sanctuary, and recycled into this new cross. Pieces were glued onto a base of clear plate glass, and then grouted with black tile grout. This cross is in five sections; each framed in stained 1" American Oak. These are then attached to an oaken lightbox. The center circle piece comes out, allowing access to the rope lights inside.
Installation: The entire cross is hung from angle wood frame pieces screwed into the baptismal wall's studs. An electrical box was cut into the drywall, and the cross covers this. The lighting is on a dimmer switch.
